Lesson 1: Notice the Friendship Problem; Take It Seriously

Let's say you're a Space Marshal like Alvin McAllister

And your days are made up of arduous tasks and hearty challenges.

You worked hard to get this job.

There weren't a lot of jobs you felt you could do, and even fewer that had an opening.

No matter what kind of day it has been, you come home and celebrate or recover:

Alone.

No one is there for your good days.

No one is there for your bad days.

You don't get to celebrate triumphs together.

You don't get to soften the blow of defeats alongside anyone.

The next step of any problem is believing something can be done about it; many people never make it to this step, because they assume that their circumstances are fixed in place and cannot be improved.

Step 2. "This is fixable/improvable."

The final step requires taking the reigns of the problem and dedicating to being the one to find or come up with the solution. Sometimes you'll find someone who knows the solution. Other times you'll have to cobble a solution together from bits of unrelated solutions. But whether it's you asking for help or you stitching together bits of help you've collected, it'll be you.

Step 3. "I can do this."
